Quick answer: pick Aquaventure for a full day of big slides, a private beach and the biggest waterpark in the world. Pick Wild Wadi for a shorter, cheaper day by the Burj Al Arab, especially with small children. Both open daily at 10am, and both are on RTA bus route 8.

Dubai has two big waterparks within a few kilometres of each other. Aquaventure World sits at Atlantis, The Palm. Wild Wadi, the city’s original waterpark, sits on the Jumeirah coast next to the Burj Al Arab and reopened on 1 November 2026. Here’s how they compare on size, rides, kids’ areas, prices and getting there, checked on 8 November 2026.

Aquaventure World: the big one

Atlantis calls Aquaventure the world’s largest waterpark, and it holds the Guinness World Records title for the most waterslides in a waterpark. Its slides are grouped in three towers, with rivers, kids’ zones and about a kilometre of private beach included in the day pass. Plan for a full day, from opening time.

  • Big slides: the towers hold the park’s steepest drops and racing slides. Some rides are for 1.2 m and taller.
  • For young children: the Splashers zones have small slides and shallow water.
  • Closed for maintenance: when we last checked Atlantis’s booking site, Neptune Tower (home to Leap of Faith and Shark Attack) was closed, along with Torrent River and two Splashers areas. See our Aquaventure guide for the full list, and check with the park before you go.

On Bloomtopia the day pass costs AED 259 for everyone aged 3 and over, any day until 30 December 2026. Atlantis prices its own tickets by date: when we checked on 6 November, its adult day pass (over 1.2 m) cost AED 280 to 310 and its junior pass (under 1.2 m) AED 230 to 260 for mid-November dates.

Wild Wadi: the original, by the Burj Al Arab

Wild Wadi is smaller and closer to the city. It has 30+ rides and attractions themed on Arabian folklore, with the Burj Al Arab towering over the pools. It reopened on 1 November 2026 and is open daily from 10am to 6pm. Plan for 4 to 6 hours.

  • Jumeirah Sceirah is the big one: a free-fall slide that reaches about 80 km/h.
  • Tantrum Alley and Burj Surj are family slides with tornado funnels and a giant bowl.
  • Master Blasters is a splash ride with drops and tunnels.
  • Breaker’s Bay is the wave pool, with waves of about 1.5 metres.
  • Juha’s Journey is a slow 360-metre river, and Juha’s Dhow and Lagoon is the kids’ area, with small slides and water cannons.

Good to know: Wild Wadi’s own website was the cheapest place for Wild Wadi tickets when we checked on 8 November 2026: day passes from AED 199 for visitors and from AED 149 for UAE residents, with infants free and a Monday offer for UAE residents paying with a Visa card. Our Wild Wadi ticket costs AED 229 (AED 259 with a meal), so check the park’s site first.

Which one for your trip?

  • Teenagers and thrill-seekers: Aquaventure. More slides, bigger towers and a whole day’s worth of rides, even with Neptune Tower closed.
  • Toddlers and young children: Wild Wadi is smaller and easier to manage, with a lagoon made for them. Aquaventure’s Splashers zones are good too, but the park is big.
  • A beach as well: Aquaventure, as the private beach is included.
  • A short day or a tight budget: Wild Wadi, bought on its own website.
  • Photos: Wild Wadi’s pools look straight at the Burj Al Arab; Aquaventure’s towers sit in front of Atlantis.

How to get there by bus, Metro or taxi

The same RTA bus serves both parks. Route 8 runs between Al Ghubaiba bus station and Ibn Battuta (next to the Metro station) about every 20 minutes, along the Jumeirah coast. Pay with a Nol card.

By bus to Wild Wadi: get off at the Wild Wadi stop, a few minutes’ walk from the entrance. Routes 81 and 88 also stop there.

By bus to Aquaventure: get off at Palm Jumeirah Monorail Station, walk to the Palm Gateway station and ride the Palm Monorail to Atlantis Aquaventure station, by the park entrance.

By Metro and taxi: for Wild Wadi, take the Red Line to Mall of the Emirates and a short taxi ride. For Aquaventure, a taxi can drop you at the Atlantis waterpark entrance. Check RTA’s S’hail app for today’s times.

Tips for both parks

  • Arrive at 10am. Queues for the big slides are usually shortest in the first hours.
  • Bring swimwear only. At Aquaventure, towels and lockers cost extra and outside food isn’t allowed.
  • Weekdays are calmer than Friday to Sunday.
  • Check closures the day before. Both parks close rides for maintenance without much notice.

The verdict

If you only have time for one waterpark in Dubai and want the “wow”, go to Aquaventure and stay the whole day. If you have small children, less time or a tighter budget, Wild Wadi is the easier, cheaper day out, with the best view of the Burj Al Arab from any pool in the city.

Questions people ask

Which is better, Aquaventure or Wild Wadi?

Aquaventure is better for a full day of big slides: it has more than 105 slides and attractions and its own beach at Atlantis, The Palm. Most first-time visitors with teenagers pick Aquaventure; families with young children often find Wild Wadi easier.

Wild Wadi. When we checked on 8 November 2026, Wild Wadi's own website sold day passes from AED 199 for visitors and from AED 149 for UAE residents. Is Wild Wadi open now?
